In 2020, founder Raphael Reifeltshammer noticed that many people, at the start of the pandemic, were resorting to plastic gloves or even
gardening gloves from hardware storeswhile shopping, using public transport, or exercising.

Motivated by this observation, Raphael conducted extensive research into functional textile treatments.
With a vision to replace disposable gloves and reduce plastic waste, he founded SUSTA Sustainable Merchandise Handels GmbH,
laying the groundwork for the creation of ElephantSkin gloves.
