Strawberries, belonging to the Rosaceae family, originated in the Americas. They made their way to Brittany in the 18th century, revolutionizing its agricultural landscape, eventually establishing Brittany as France’s primary strawberry hub by the 1930s. The modern strawberries we enjoy are a genetic blend of two species: one introduced to Europe in the 16th century and another brought from Chile in 1714 by Mr. Frézier.

Interestingly, strawberries aren't technically fruits; what we consume is the enlarged flower receptacle housing the true fruits, achenes, visible as tiny yellow specks on the strawberry's surface. Among the spring varieties, Gariguettes stand out for their exquisite taste profile.

Cultivated under protective conditions, our strawberries benefit from natural pollination by bumblebees, supplemented by biological pest control utilizing predatory insects to manage aphids and thrips.

Prince de Bretagne strawberries epitomize freshness. Hand-harvested and packaged directly on the farm, they're swiftly made available for sale, often within hours of picking. This swift process ensures that our strawberries, renowned for their quality, reach stores within a day of harvest, ensuring peak freshness and flavor for our customers.
