Loch Duart, an independent salmon farm established in 1999, is located on Scotland’s northwest coast and operates in the remote communities of Sutherland, Uist, and Skye. The farm produces 6,000 tonnes of high-quality salmon annually, with sales offices in Scotland, France, and the USA, and a state-of-the-art processing facility in Dingwall.

Loch Duart prioritizes fish welfare and environmental sustainability. They were the first salmon farm approved by the RSPCA and continue to lead in fish welfare initiatives. Their farming practices exclude antibiotics and growth hormones, opting instead for slow growth, low-density stocking (98.5% water to 1.5% fish), and natural rearing methods. Fish health is verified by third parties, ensuring transparency and honesty in reporting. To control sea lice, Loch Duart uses wrasse, a type of cleaner fish, raised and regulated in harmony with their salmon. The farm employs water aeration systems to improve water quality and uses fresh water from local rivers to maintain healthy gills in their salmon.

Loch Duart farms a unique Scottish salmon breed, safeguarding its lineage and ensuring 100% traceability through a forensic fingerprinting method based on minerals absorbed in Scottish waters. Their commitment to quality extends to the diet of their salmon, which mimics that of wild salmon and is sourced sustainably. Loch Duart’s approach results in salmon naturally high in Omega-3, with exceptional taste and texture, making it a favorite among top chefs worldwide.
